This cycle and walking tour combines an 8 day
extraordinary outdoor experience with fine food and the best
of Canadian culture in Western Canada’s Wine Country.
We will pick you up at the Kelowna Airport for our tour which
begins in Kelowna’s Cultural District, after a guided
tour of the Wine Museum and the beautiful Kelowna lakefront
we will experience a gourmet seafood dinner. The next morning
we will depart for Midway for a tour of the Kettle Valley
Railway Museum. We’re at Mile Marker “0”
on the KVR and our outdoor cycling adventure begins. We will
glide through shady stands of Ponderosa Pines as they tower
over the red rock pathway where the Kettle Valley Railway
once meandered slowly through this desert world. We stay cool
from the breeze as we gaze the many views of the Okanagan
Valley from 19 timber-framed trestles.
As we leave the shady darkness of stone carved
tunnels we are renewed in time for a taste of fine wine and
a tour of local Wineries on the edge of the South Okanagan
desert. We will view ancient pictographs, spectacular lake
views and the famous Eagles (McIntyre) Bluff. We’ll
take you on a guided bike tour of the Chute Lake portion of
the Trans-Canada Trail on the way to Hillside Estate Winery
to sample some of the finest wine made in the Okanagan Valley.
You’ll walk the deck of the famous sternwheeler the
SS Sicamous and spend the night at Gods Mountain Crest Chalet
where we can relax and view Big Horn Sheep in their natural
habitat. We will explore by bike 20 km of backroads that include
the old Hudsons Bay Company Fur Brigade Trail. Taste the Nectar
of the Gods while we tour Tinhorn and Hawthorn Mountain Wineries
as well as Canada’s Wine Capital the town of Oliver.
We will take a train ride back through history on the Kettle
Valley Steam Railway before our tour ends back at our hotel
in Kelowna.
This 8 day cycle and walking tour is hosted
by Ed Kruger one of our most experienced guides, we affectionately
call him Trail-head Ed who has 20 years experience as a leader
of outdoor experiences, specializing with travel on the Kettle
Valley Railway. Menu highlights include: Seafood platters;
Open air BBQ feasts with our Special Bearfoot BBQ Sauce; Wine
Pairing and tasteing; Trail-head Ed’s gourmet sandwiches
and snacks.

of streams and highcountry lakes for three nights, with four
